Business Boost Judge and former star of TV’s Dragons’ Den Piers Linney commented:
“Larissa’s got a product that’s beautifully made, from a fibre that’s hypoallergenic and extremely versatile. And with wool being an incredibly environmentally friendly product, we were impressed with the values behind Rowan Bay as a business. Equally, with the craft market growing rapidly, we believe there’s real potential for growth for Rowan Bay, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in this space.”
After what has been a difficult year for us due to Covid, we are delighted to have won this grant which will help us bounce back!
What will this grant allow us to do? Well firstly we have been able to order our next line of wraps which will be released at the beginning of 2021. There will be 6 colourways and 3 different blend options - so something for everyone!
What happens after that is perhaps the most exciting part. This grant is going to enable us to take the next step into producing our own wool for our wraps, whilst also supporting smaller farmers, smallholders and conservation organisations to get a fair price for their fleece after what has been a terrible year for the value of wool. Our wool will have full traceability, only be sourced from flocks with high welfare standards and be processed in the UK without any harmful or environmentally damaging chemicals. It will even include wool from our own flock of Shetland sheep!
